Build your pool. Watch the range build with it.

Shape a pool, choose your equipment and decking, and watch a planning range update as you go. When it looks right, send it to our design-build team and we’ll walk the property with you.

Excavation and haul-off are already in it.

The range covers digging the hole and carrying the spoil away — the line most pool bids leave off and bill you for later.

A planning range, not your final bill.

Use it to plan around a number. The contract price comes after we walk the property and design the pool with you.

What we build

Gunite, shaped to the property

Every pool here is poured in place and finished on site — not dropped in a hole. That is why the estimator asks for shape, ledge and spa separately: each one is real structure we build and real volume we price, and leaving it out is how a pool quote comes in low and grows later.

  • Priced on structure, not waterWe measure the shell we build — floor and walls — not the water it happens to hold.
  • Freeform is design, not a surchargeCurved or straight, the same structure formula prices every pool — shape your pool to the property.
  • Ledges and spas are real volumeBoth are billed structure on our contracts, so both get their own measurements.
  • Excavation includedThe dig is bigger than the pool. Haul-off is inside the range, not a surprise.

Where are we building?

Construction type sets how the pool is priced; the rest tells our team what they're walking into before they call.

Size & shape · priced on structure

Choose the size and shape.

The range updates in the sidebar as you type — floor and walls, not water volume.

Tanning ledge or beach entry

The shallow sunning shelf at the edge of the pool, usually about a foot deep. Give us its length and width — a ledge is real structure we pour, so leaving it out quotes the pool short.

Raised hot tub

A raised stone spa standing above the pool surface

A raised spa sits above the pool, like the stone one here. Just give us its length and width — depth is our standard 3.5ft, with the wall standing half a foot above the water.

Pool cost questions

How much does it cost to build a pool in East Tennessee?
It depends heavily on the size, shape, site, and the finishes and equipment you choose — and material and labor costs move enough that a fixed price list would be out of date almost as soon as we published it. Rather than quote a number that goes stale, the estimator on this page turns your exact dimensions and selections into a current planning range in a few minutes. That range covers the pool structure complete plus excavation and haul-off; decking, fencing, heating, salt, and automation are added on top. A firm price still comes from a site visit, an engineering review, and a written proposal.
What is included in a pool estimate, and what is extra?
Our range includes the gunite shell complete — steel, plumbing, skimmer, autofill, bonding, pump, filter, chlorinator, tile, coping, and Diamond Brite plaster — plus digging the hole and trucking the spoil off your property. Excavation haul-off alone is roughly twenty truckloads on a typical pool, and it is a common source of change orders elsewhere, so we carry it in the number rather than billing it later. Not included: rock excavation, utilities and water, permits, unsuitable soil, and owner-requested changes after approval.
Why do pool builders refuse to give a price?
Because a real price depends on the property — access for equipment, slope, rock, soil, drainage, and utilities all move it, and on mountain lots they move it more than on flat ground. That is a fair reason to require a site visit before signing, but it is not a reason to leave you with no number at all while you are deciding whether to build. This estimator gives you an honest planning range in a few minutes so you can plan a budget; a firm price still comes from a site visit and a written proposal.
How accurate is an online pool cost calculator?
Ours is built from Teaster’s own signed contracts rather than a national average, so the arithmetic reflects what pools in this region actually sell for. It is still a planning range and deliberately shown as one — real pricing needs a site visit, an engineering review, and verified quantities. Treat it as the number you budget around, not the number you sign.
Is a gunite pool or a vinyl liner pool cheaper?
A vinyl liner pool costs meaningfully less for the same footprint — typically somewhere near half — because it uses a manufactured shape and set sizes. Gunite is sprayed concrete over steel and can be built to any shape, depth, or feature set, which is what you are paying the difference for: tanning ledges, beach entries, integrated spas, and custom depth. You can price both on this page and compare.
How much does pool excavation and dirt haul-off cost?
It is driven by how much earth leaves the property, not by the size of the pool alone. The hole is far larger than the pool — a 16 by 32 foot pool sits in a hole of roughly 4,000 cubic feet once you allow for working room around the walls and the shell below the floor — and soil swells about thirty percent between the ground and the truck bed. That works out near twenty loads on a typical build. We include it in the range on this page rather than treating it as an extra.
Do I have to give my contact details to see a price?
No. The planning range shows on this page as you build — enter your dimensions and selections and the number updates live, without giving us anything. It is rounded for planning; when you send the plan to our team with your name and a phone or email, you get the exact range for your configuration on screen and a copy sent to you, and a designer follows up to turn it into a firm number after seeing the property.
